Numerous nominations and awards resulted from his first album as Gramps found himself amongst the top of the Reggae game. From songs of sweet love to inspiration of the youths, all 16 songs had an organic tone with solid production. Gramps exceeded fans expectations as they were always yearning to hear more from his Morgan Heritage role. The release of the album, 2 Sides of My Heart Vol.1 proved that Gramps is an artist to be reckoned with as he hit the road with the likes of Kymani Marley, Buju Banton, and John Legend. As composed, written and produced on his own label Dada Son Entertainment, the multi-dimensionality of Gramps Morgan was revealed. Soon afterwards the single was charting simultaneously across the world. The single earned Gramps at #1 on Canadian Reggae and Dancehall Charts (Radio Dubplate) for 3 consecutive weeks on CHRY 105.5 FM. In a time when reggae music was in a state of dejection and dancehall lyrics were redundant, Gramps Morgan proved positive music can still top the charts and did with Wash the Tears, the first single from his solo album, 2 Sides of My Heart Vol.1. While remaining dedicated to conscious Roots Reggae & Lovers Rock, his mission to expand his horizons to new markets was a success. Gramps began his solo career on a high note by touring on India Arie‟s Soulbird Tour. After nearly three decades together, collectively solidifying fan bases in almost every continent on the planet, releasing 10 albums and 3 DVDs while performing for millions of people worldwide, Gramps flourished into a successful solo artist. From Africa to the Americas, Europe, Asia, and the South Pacific too, Roy “Gramps” Morgan has performed for sold out stadiums around the world with his 4 siblings, the other members of the internationally renowned reggae band, Morgan Heritage.
